In Fine Voice

One of the San Diego Zoo’s earliest forays into popular culture occurred with great fanfare—well, with a loud trumpet, anyway. When radio station KFSD came to the Zoo to do a live radio broadcast, they did interviews with Belle Benchley and zookeepers, but what really got everyone’s attention was the clarion call from Queenie the elephant. She stole the show—the radio audience may not have been able to see her, but they certainly got her message!
