When Humboldt's penguins came to the Zoo in 1933 from the Galápagos Islands, they were to live in the Mirror Pool. But first, they stayed in the Harvester Building reptile house for a couple of months during the winter, since even San Diego's mild climate was a little too chilly that year for the warm-weather birds! Among the birds were Isadore and Isabel, who led a little "penguin parade" from the Zoo entrance to the Mirror Pool on select afternoons.
