A new experience for the adventurous opened at the Wild Animal Park in 1974: visitors could now bypass the monorail and venture out to hoof it on the Kilimanjaro Hiking Trail. Wending its way around animal habitats, gardens, and lookout points, the trail gave guests a whole new view of the Park, the animals, San Pasqual Valley, and the spectacular, scenic vistas surrounding it all.
