Here Be Dragons

The San Diego Zoo’s work with partners and colleagues in China had made it possible to exhibit several species at the Zoo that had rarely been seen in the U.S., and some for the first time: giant pandas, golden monkeys, monal pheasants, Chinese dholes, Francois langurs, and tufted deer. Another was a spectacular resident of the Reptile House, the Chinese water dragon. On June 25, the Zoo was proud to announce its first hatching of this beautiful species.
