Soaring over Condor Ridge | San Diego Zoo 100

The large aviary habitat in Condor Ridge gave the big birds room to fly, roost, perch, and interact. The first group to live there were all younger males that had been raised at the Wild Animal Park's Condorminium.

With a wingspan of nine feet, the California condors were an awe-inspiring sight up close, as visitors had never been able to see them before.

While the stunning stars of Condor Ridge were the California condors, there were exhibits for other amazing species that share the condor's native habitat, including burrowing owls, thick-billed parrots, and bighorn sheep.

Vision 1997 - 2006

Condor Ridge soars: the newest area at the Wild Animal Park represented the species and habitat of the southwestern United States, including the California condor, which was shown on exhibit for the first time.
