Monroe on the Go

When Kokamo, the newest gorilla at the Safari Park, was determined to be pregnant, there was rejoicing among the Park’s primate keepers. There hadn’t been a gorilla birth at the Park for 11 years, and everyone was looking forward to a new little face in the gorilla habitat. When the baby boy arrived on June 17, 2011, it was a happy day. As he grew, keepers described Monroe as a busy little guy, perpetually on the go, running all over the exhibit and playing with anything he finds along the way. He was even known to give his father, Winston, a swat on the rear as he charged past him.
