Hunte Amphitheater of Animal Behavior opened at the Zoo on March 28, 1985, when an audience of nearly 200 attended the dedication ceremony. Joan Embery (on stage, right) introduced the audience to the home of the Animals in Action Show, along with Kathy Marmack, animal training supervisor, and Daphne the emu. The goal of the new show was to provide education about the animals in an entertaining way, showing the animals' natural behaviors and connecting people to wildlife by introducing the individual animals' personalities and characteristics.
