In 1990, the koalas spent some time "on vacation" in the Children's Zoo as their home was being remodeled. The Koala Barn was given a thorough upgrade, with more light, more individual quarters for the males, and a new indoor viewing "porch," which made it possible for albino koala Goolara (seen here) to be on exhibit more often, since his susceptibility to sunburn limited the amount of time he could spend in the outdoor tree exhibits.
