Tiny Imani had a rough start, and it wasn't clear that she would be able to fight through it. But when keepers and veterinarians saw signs of improvement after five days of round-the-clock intensive care, they began to have "faith," the meaning of her name, that she would pull through. Keeper Janet Hawes compared the treatment room to the "command center for the Starship Enterprise, complete with blinking, beeping lights and complicated dials and buttons." She noted how concerned all Imani's caretakers were, saying "We tried to make our tiny patient as comfortable as possible and reassure each other, as this critical care phase can be the most difficult part of our job."
