A friend of Dr. Harry’s, Captain Allan Hancock (center in photo), offered his ship the Velero III  for expeditions and to ship animals on several occasions. In 1939, he took Zoo board member Leonard T. Olmstead (at right in photo) and curators Karl Koch and Si Perkins to South America. Dr. Harry (left in photo) met them in Trinidad, and the group brought back three capybaras, a female jaguar, and a giant anteater to the Zoo.
