Hop to it: For the mountain yellow-legged frog, time was running out—severe population fragmentation led to fewer than 200 individuals remaining in the wild. Zoological researchers stepped in to save a threatened group of these frogs in the San Bernardino Mountains, establishing a conservation research and breeding program to try to save the species from extinction.
